Born Co. Dublin where he still maintains his studio. After a period in horse racing, he studied painting in N.C.A.D. 1974 to '77 He first exhibited his work in 1974. English was elected as a full member of the Royal Hibernian Academy in 2005. His work can be seen at the RHA Annual and Christmas exhibitions. He also exhibits regularly with the James Gallery, Jorgenson Fine Art, Kilcock Art Gallery, and The Lavit Gallery, Cork. James has a number of one-man shows at several leading galleries.
